Several times a week or a month – that’s how often Lithuanians tend to enjoy buns and other confectionery products, revealed a representative survey by “Spinter research”. According to the producers, domestic consumers prefer classic products – croissants and sweet buns with fillings.

According to the data of the survey ordered by “Mantinga”, 41 per cent of respondents buy buns and other confectionery products several times a month. Almost a third, or 27 per cent, of the respondents buy these products much more often – several times a week.

“Sweet baked goods are very popular in Lithuania – on average, we produce about 7 million different types of buns per month, of which about half are consumed in Lithuania. Residents of the country are particularly fond of products with classic flavors – with chocolate, caramel, and berry fillings. Products with distinctive flavors, such as orange filling, are less frequently purchased. Lately, classic Lithuanian cuisine products, such as grietinietis, are returning to the shelves, ” comments Ramunė Puzinienė, Head of New Product Development at “Mantinga”.

According to her, the five most popular buns in Lithuania have not changed for a long time: croissant with caramel filling, cake with apple filling, butter croissant, croissant with chocolate and marzipan twist.
